Instructions are provided below about how to authorize users so they can use Training Units.
This step is required before your company can register into training classes.
The authorization is typically done by the person who's listed as "Technical Contact" on the order that was created to purchase the Training Units. This document is written as a reference for the Technical Contact.
A process overview of how to use Training Units to register into an F5 training is shown in the graphic below. This article provides detailed instructions about how to perform the second action shown in the graphic, Step B - Authorize Users to Spend Training Units.
AUTHORIZE USERS TO SPEND TRAINING UNITS:
Step 1:
F5 will create a Client Account for your company, associate you as the Technical Contact with the Client Account and distribute Training Units to your company's Client Account.
Step 2:
The Technical Contact will receive an automated email from the Education Services Portal containing information about your Training Unit balance and their corresponding expiration date. The subject line on the email will be "Training units have been distributed."
Step 3:
Each individual student will need to register and activate their account on the Education Services Portal -- https://account.f5.com/rockwell/signin/register (including logging in for the first time to set up multi-factor authentication). The student email addresses need to be associated with your organization, not personal email addresses, such as Gmail accounts.
Step 4:
Once the student accounts have been activated, the Technical Contact should login to the Education Services Portal and take these steps:
a. Select TU Management > Client Account. The TU Balance for your organization is shown in the upper left. Select the User Management tab.
b. From the pulldown menu in the upper right, select Actions > Add User
c. In the pop-up window, enter the full email address of a student that will use Training Units and click Submit. If the student's email address is not found, they will have to register from https://account.f5.com/rockwell/signin/register and this step will have to be repeated. Please note that students can only be in one client account at a time. If your company has multiple Training Unit orders, you may need to coordinate. Please contact support@mail.education.f5.com if you have questions.
d. Repeat steps b and c as necessary to add additional students to the Client Account.
e. Select the TU Management tab
f. Select Actions > Assign
g. From the Assign credit pop-up window, enter the email address of the student that Training Units are to be distributed to and enter the number of TUs in the TU Amount field. Click Submit. The student will receive an email with the number of TUs assigned, as well as the expiration date.
h. Repeat steps f and g as necessary to assign Training Units to additional students.
i. To view your Training Unit allocations, click the arrow next to the TU Code.
That's it! Now that students have been assigned Training Units, they can use them to register for training classes.
